NetLiance Launches the Baldrige Resource Library for the Alliance for Performance Excellence
Carlsbad, CA, May, 31, 2010 — The Alliance for Performance Excellence, a non-profit network of national, state, and local Baldrige-based award programs, has partnered with NetLiance to introduce the Baldrige Resource Library, an online repository of articles, podcasts, and videos about organizational improvement, quality methods, and leadership approaches that help change organizations.
NetLiance worked closely with the Baldrige Resource Library project team to develop the online library. The effort was supported by the Baldrige Foundation and the American Society for Quality (ASQ), which was a major resource contributor in launching this service. Thomas Schamberger, Executive Director of the Baldrige Foundation, greatly appreciated the work the Alliance, ASQ, and NetLiance have done to bring this vision online.
The Baldrige Resource Library contains over 1,000 articles, podcasts, and videos about the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award, organizational improvement, and performance excellence. “It's THE place to answer questions - How do I find out more about Baldrige? Has anyone else done this? How do I get started? Should I do Baldrige, ISO, Lean, or Six Sigma? - All aspects of organizational improvement, Baldrige, the Criteria, quality methods and tools are covered.” stated Bill Denney, CEO of The Quality Texas Foundation.
Since the resources encompass a wide range of topics and audiences include both beginners and seasoned professionals in organization improvement, one of the challenges was how to allow users to quickly find the resources that can provide the information they are seeking. Through a series of brainstorm sessions, NetLiance project manager and the Alliance project team created a flexible content organization architecture that includes intuitive meta information and search options to locate the resources quickly and accurately. From the online interface, users can search by subject area, industry, keywords, and date to find the resources they are interested in. Each resource is displayed with a brief, customizable summary. Users can download or view the resources with a single click. Broken links can be reported on the same screen. From the backend, administrators can view the download frequency of each resource and further enrich the library based on the needs of the users.
Content contribution is another key feature of the Baldrige Resource Library. Content contribution is open to the public. NetLiance implemented multiple layers of security measures to manage and monitor contributors. A potential content contributor can register and contribute content through an automated process. The contributor can point the content to existing files on other websites or the items can be uploaded to the library. All submissions are subject to review and approval to ensure that they provide good quality and value to the users.
The Alliance evaluates the statistics periodically and envisions further improvements to the resource library over time.
